What is a Migraine?
It’s not just a headache. Migraines are totally debilitating and can leave you in bed for hours or days. The extreme throbbing is often on one side of the head. The onset of a Migraine can sometimes be predicted with an ‘Aura’, a visual disturbance with flashes of light or blind spots. Others can feel tingling or difficulty speaking beforehand or craving foods and feeling thirsty.
What Are The Symptoms of Migraines?
- Throbbing pain
- Sensitivity to light, movement and sound
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Irritability
- Vision changes
- Vomiting
Common Treatments For Migraines
Treatments include pain medications and anti-nausea tablets. A more holistic approach may include acupressure, acupuncture, dietary adjustments and stress management. All common treatments for migraines address the symptoms, rather than the potential causes.
