Irritable Bowel Syndrome

What Is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?

A very common group of conditions that affects the stomach and intestines, often signalled by highly uncomfortable abdominal pain. It is often classed as manageable but chronic, affecting around 15% of the population. Flare-ups can come and go, lasting for days or weeks.

What Are The Symptoms of IBS?

Symptoms associated with IBS include:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Stomach Cramps
  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation

Common Treatments For IBS

Pain medication, laxatives and dietary supplements can ease the symptoms of IBS. Many also find talking therapies helpful, where stress induced flareups are noticed. Making appropriate lifestyle shifts and better managing triggering situations can be highly preventative.

Can I Recover From IBS?

There can be a direct correlation between stress and the onset of IBS flareups, whether regular or infrequent. The MBR programme has been highly successful in helping those with IBS enjoy a symptom free life again. Get in touch to learn more.
